New Jersey Piano Prodigy to Perform Solo Recital March 27

Program includes works by Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, and Chopin

Princeton, NJ. - Prize-winning pianist Charlie Liu, 9, will present a benefit solo recital on Saturday, March 27 at 3 pm in the Channing Hall of the Universalist Unitarian Congregation of Princeton.

Charlie Liu has performed on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, and the Youtube Symphony Orchestra's debut and is the youngest Lang Lang International Music Scholarship winner. He has given performances at music venues and events on both coasts, and counts Queen Rania of Jordan, Bono of U2, Hugh Jackman, Rupert and Wendi Murdoch, Sanford and Joan Weill among his audiences. A winner in all 16 piano solo competitions he entered, Charlie Liu also accomplished the unprecedented feat of performing in each of the 3 concert halls inside the prestigious Carnegie Hall by age 8.

The concert is Charlie Liu's second solo recital in Princeton since June 2009. Admission is free to the public with recommended donation at $10/adult and $5/children. All donations will go to help preemies like the artist himself.

"He (Charlie Liu) has grown so much in the last year both as a performer and, literally, as a young boy and I am very proud of his achievements." Lang Lang, 'the hottest artist on the classical music planet' by the New York Times, said. "But I am even more proud to see him use his gifts in support of good causes, such as promoting music education through our Foundation and helping children and families in need through donations and benefit concerts."

The concert is the second benefit event Charlie Liu initiated this year. The first - "Young Artists for Haiti", also created and organized by him and family - featured 10 of the best young pianists from 7 countries and 4 continents performing together, virtually, to help raise awareness and funds for continuing development efforts in Chile and Haiti.

"Young artists like Charlie need a lot of support but they have something unique to give back - the healing power of music." Lang Lang said.
