New Jewish Community Center Opening in Miami Beach Names Campus with a Major Capital Gift
The Leon J. Simkins Charitable Foundation, a private non-operating foundation, becomes a major donor to name the Campus of the new Jewish Community Center opening in Miami Beach in Fall 2012.
The gift to the Capital Campaign supports the construction and maintenance of the new Miami Beach JCC building located at 4221 Pine Tree Drive. In honor of this significant donation, the Campus on which the building sits will be known as the Simkins Family Campus, naming the facility The Galbut Family Miami Beach JCC on the Simkins Family Campus.
"The Simkins family gift is a testament to the commitment our community has made to making the dream of a new JCC in Miami Beach a reality," states Miami Beach JCC President Jerry Sokol. "With the Simkins gift, we have now raised over $10 million for our capital campaign," adds Mr. Sokol.
Mr. Sokol worked directly with the Simkins family to ensure their role in the project and secure their financial backing. As Capital Campaign Chair for the past five years, Mr. Sokol has been instrumental in identifying donors and raising the capital necessary to fund the building of a new Miami Beach JCC.
"We are proud to be a part of this significant time in Miami Beach history, in helping to build a Jewish community center that our whole community can enjoy for many generations to come," says Michael Simkins.
