New Method For Dealing With Information Overload When Learning Guitar Online Released By Blues Guitar Unleashed

Online, April 12, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Living in the modern "information age" has brought many advantages to large groups of people. Few can argue the positive effect of having so much information available at our fingertips in an instant. However there are also many negative effects that can come from what is commonly known as "information overload," as described by William Van Winkle in his article "Information Overload" at http://www.gdrc.org/icts/i-overload/infoload.html. In an attempt to help other combat the issue, Blues Guitar Unleashed has released a new method for dealing with the overload from one of its own members at http://bluesguitarunleashed.com/information-overload/.
Specifically for those trying to learn to play the guitar, the availability of online guitar TAB sites, and freely available lessons on YouTube and other video sharing websites has made the task of learning to play the guitar more difficult for many, simply because they don't know where to start or where to go next.
"Without some sort of system in place, I see students bouncing around from lesson to lesson and website to website. They learn a few tidbits of things here and there, but they never really learn anything well. And typically they develop a lot of bad habits and gather a lot of misinformation along the way," says Griff Hamlin, owner of Blues Guitar Unleashed.
"Keeping students focused is at least half the battle," he explains, "if I can get them to follow the steps, they are always successful. But if a student is determined to constantly explore new things without ever learning the current thing, they won't make it very far before they get frustrated and quit."
The post was written by one of Blues Guitar Unleashed's members who wrote in to Griff after one of Griff's emails on the subject. "I usually try to keep up with everyone at least 2 or 3 times a month... and often more than that," says Griff. "On this occasion Darryl wrote back with his strategy and I felt it was a really good one and worth posting for everyone to see."
