New Missouri Pageant Location Ideal for Businesses and Travelers

The state competition for female illusion, the Miss Gay Missouri Pageant, will be held in Columbia for the first time in its 38 year history.

(COLUMBIA, Mo.) - The state competition for female illusion, the Miss Gay Missouri Pageant, will be held in Columbia for the first time in its 38 year history. Nearly 20 contestants are already preparing for their journey to Columbia in order to compete in the pageant. Each contestant is hoping to be titled the next Miss Gay Missouri, America 2011.

With an event nearly four decades old, it is no surprise attendance at the final night's competition is projected to be around five hundred people. The economic benefit of bringing this event to Columbia, then starts to take center stage. "The Convention and Visitors Bureau is delighted the Miss Gay Missouri Pageant has elected to hold their event in Columbia. We feel their event will be a great addition to the City's mix of events and we look forward to working with them." Amy Schneider, Acting Director, Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau.

SoCo Club, hosting the event, has already had multiple sponsor commitments. "We are very proud to host the pageant. Columbia is a very central location for everyone planning to attend and many people will be traveling from around the state to be here for three nights." Marty Newman, owner of SoCo Club, said. The Wingate by Wyndham Columbia, also a sponsor, has already seen many of the rooms set aside reserved. "I'm very happy to be part of the inaugural event here in Columbia and would love to see it grow. It has brought me additional business on a need week," said Chris Maher, Wingate's general manager.

The Miss Gay Missouri, America pageant originally founded in St. Louis is the second oldest preliminary to Miss Gay America. The Missouri pageant events will be held at the SoCo Club, located at 128 E. Nifong Blvd., Ste. E, in Columbia.
