New Mobile App Startup, Weepo, Gets $2 Million Cash Infusion

Weepo - a new mobile app that lets singles see how their night will play out before it even begins - has raised $2 million from investors.

Weepo - first and only mobile app that allows singles to see how a lounge, club or party is before the night even begins - has just raised $2 million from a handful of investors.

The New York based start-up was founded by former nightclub promoter, Roy Lugasi, who realized there had to be a better way to get customers into the clubs and bars.

"This 2 million dollar investment is going to increase our exposure with singles, which will result in more downloads. We are already one of the fastest growing mobile apps and with Google promoting our app with their network, we are growing organically."

Weepo lets users see how a social venue is before they even arrive. It shows user profiles and pictures of people who say they are going to a specific venue. It also allows users to send private messages to these people if they both mutually connect.

If two singles connect, they can message each other on Weepo and connect at the venue. This advanced screening of club goers, bar patrons and partiers is faster and more approachable for singles to meet. Many cost-conscious Millennials are also using Weepo to determine whether the crowd at the nightclub is worth the cover.

“This 2 million dollar investment is going to increase our exposure with singles, which will result in more downloads,” said Lugasi. “We are already one of the fastest growing mobile apps and with Google promoting our app with their network, we are growing organically.”

Jared Morgenstern, one of the earliest developers with Facebook and the creator of their "Like" button, is financially backing Weepo and providing strategy to the young startup. Weepo is still raising money with private investors.

Weepo has been featured on Channel 11 in New York with a TV segment that explained how the dating app is increasing the odds for singles to meet. Digital Journal published a story on the mobile app explaining how it lets socialites see the party before they arrive.

Another popular news site, Skift recently wrote about how techies were using Weepo at the biggest tech conferences in the US - TechCrunch Disrupt in New York and Collision in New Orleans. More than 1000 users signed up for Weepo at the Collision Conference.

“There are many ways that we believe Weepo can disrupt the nightlife industry,” Lugasi said. “Right now, if you want to promote a nightclub or bar, you have to go through club promoters who bring in the best customers. Weepo’s technology can actually skip those promoters and go directly to the partiers who are already looking for the best place to go for the night.”

Its proprietary data also allows Weepo to identify social trends using their analytics. For example, their data can identify the best bars, clubs or restaurants in any city with the best girl-to-guy ratio.

You can download Weepo for free in the App Store.
