New National Art Competition - The Phyllis Caffrey Memorial Art Competition for Amateur and Emerging Artists
Online, April 19, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Phyllis Caffrey, co-founder of Caffreys Gallery, Ballina, had a great interest in encouraging people to find and realise their artistic talents. She particularly delighted in nurturing hidden artistic creativity, encouraging people to develop their skills, and providing space to give expression to those talents not yet realised. To recognise and sustain this wealth of artistic creativity, the husband and family of the late Phyllis Caffrey are launching an art competition in her memory, and to honour the distinctive contribution that she has made to promotion of art in the region. The Phyllis Caffrey Memorial Art Competition is open to amateur and emerging artists aged 35 and over who have not had, as of yet, any public recognition of their work.
The Phyllis Caffrey Memorial Art Competition aims to attract entries from people who have taken up art at a later stage. Typically such amateur or emerging artists have not previously, or do not currently, earn any income from their artwork. It is expected that professional artists will respect the spirit of the competition.
The closing date for entries is Fri, 29th July 2011
The prize money is very generous and totals €3,500 with a 1st Prize of €2,000, 2nd Prize of €750, 3rd Prize of €500 and 5 merit prizes of €50 each. Further information including terms and conditions, and an entry form can be found on the website.
