New Nationwide Student Mentoring Service Launches

SILICON VALLEY, CA - StudentMentor.org, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, announced today the launch of a free new service matching college students seeking career or academic advice with volunteer mentors nationwide.

For the first time ever, any college student, from any school or major can sign up, match with a mentor in real-time, and choose to connect in-person or virtually. Each college student reviews a list of possible mentors based on individual objectives and selects a mentor best suited for their needs.

Students work one-on-one with mentors to receive career or academic advice on a wide variety of topics including financing education, graduate school applications, and work-life balance. Mentors not only enhance their own leadership, management, and coaching skills, but enjoy imparting their life-long experiences to a budding college student.

StudentMentor Co-Founder and Executive Director Ashkon Jafari, stated "Entering college at sixteen, I had no one to turn to for advice and felt lost. But through finding several key mentors, I was able to navigate through coursework, find an internship, and give back by serving as a mentor to others. I realized that there was a universal need for all students that was not being met in the marketplace, and this led to the creation of StudentMentor. I believe StudentMentor can fill this void and help students achieve their goals."
