Fiction writer Paulette Jones is in the final editing stages of her first tweens novel, Girls' Day Out: The Adventure. This book was inspired by the relationship she has with her great nieces and all the little girls she gets to work with during her mentoring sessions. She is involved with the STAIR, was a speaker and invited guest at the Ruby Bridges 1st annual Children's Book Fair and she is scheduled to speak at several local schools.

Paulette Jones, born and nurtured in the city of New Orleans, during the turbulent 1960's where she attended the public school system. It wasn't until she was an adult that she realized she had a gift, the gift of storytelling. After reading several novels written by African American authors, a desire was unlocked in her and visions soon followed. She literally put pen to paper and emerged an author. At the completion of her quest she had written her first novel HerStory:Revelations. Paulette Jones was first recognized when three of her stage plays were performed at the Black Repertory Theater in Berkeley, Ca.

Paulette Jones has been called a gifted story teller, Librarian, Linda Gielec, "Paulette's writing effortlessly flowed from the pages of her novel and painted so captivating a picture of the novel, that I felt I was in the midst of the story with every page turned. I couldn't put the book down!" AAMBC Reviewer: Natasha R. Hines, "Paulette Jones has a knack for storytelling dialogue."

Girl's Day Out is about three soon to be ten year olds who are best friends, excellent students and cousins. The girls had done their very best all school year and are being rewarded with the title of best fourth grade students. Summer is about to begin and as usual they will be split up to go spend time at their grandmothers' homes. The aunties decide to give the girls something special, a girl's day out. They are very curious young ladies so when they find out about the adventure they want to know, they need to know the what, where, when and how this adventure will unfold. The suspense is overwhelming so they use all of the resources that they have to find out where they will be going. They ask their parents if they know anything, they go to the library and look in books, magazines and on maps; they use the computer and look for places near and far. They even resort to asking the aunties, and even though they know the aunties will not tell them a thing, they remain hopeful to the last minute. The adventure as they call it turns out to be bigger, better and more usual than they could have even imagined. The lesson they learn this week is priceless.
