New Stage Play "Election Day" Kicks Off International Tour in St. Louis, MO. August 27, 2010 at Florissant Civic Center Theatre.
Online, August 23, 2010 (Newswire.com) - St. Louis, MO - The new stage play, Election Day (11.4.2008), Drama/Comedy, will kickoff it's highly anticipated national tour on August 27 - 28, 2010 at Florissant Civic Center Theatre in St. Louis, Missouri. Election Day 11.4.2008 is a powerful and compelling stage play about a family that tackles issues surrounding the election of the first African-American major party presidential candidate in the nation's history that takes you on an emotional journey through song, laughter and triumph.
The play takes center stage in Houston, TX at the home of William and Delores Stephens. It is full of drama, comedy, and sometimes the raw truth.
Follow Mr. and Mrs. Stephens, a middle-class multi-cultural family, and their friends on the most historical "Election Day" in the nation's history. While the youngest son fights in Afghanistan, two of their adult children and their spouses are forced to move back home due to a troubled economy. Campaign issues hit home when the family is faced with job loss, foreclosure, immigration, and health care issues.
Eleanor Clark, Mrs. Stephens' younger sister, has a passion for Martini & Rossi and Barack Obama. She and her flamboyant pal, Bobby Boudreaux, bump heads with the family Pastor, Norman Lee because of his conservative views on political and social issues. These issues provoke hysterical squabbles between the trio.

"Election Day (11.4.2008)" supports the ideology of diversity and demonstrates its strengths. Large scale migration has changed the picture all over the world. The diverse culture of the United States today includes several races, religions, and cultures, all of which thrive together to make the nation - America. The situation is no different in other parts of the world, as the nations have realized that the need of the hour is to walk together.
St. Louis native Jackie Cherry, the Writer, Director, and Producer, was inspired by President Obama's victory. It restored her hope in society, and provided an opportunity to speak out. Cherry states, "It made me realize that greed is the prevailing cause of man's suffering. It uses discriminatory and social factors to maintain the status quo for the few which is exhibited around the world. Social issues are mere tools to camouflage the intent of greed. Obama's victory showed me that America is a great country built upon diversity with awesome people. America is the face of many nations. I applaud President Obama on tackling these deeply embedded issues around the world".
The melting pot of cast members clearly represents the strength of diversity. Don't miss this powerful message created and presented by the thought-provoking, game-changing writer, Jackie Cherry. Prepare yourself to laugh and cry. Emotions will fly, but the polls await you. This is a production you don't want to miss.
