Streamside Systems, LLC., an environmental company developing innovative technologies to remove excess sediment and restore surface waters, will deploy their High-Capacity Sediment Collector System on Fountain Creek, a sediment laden tributary to the Arkansas River.

The project, which has already generated interest by local and national media, the scientific community, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is expected to demonstrate an efficient technology that can reduce the harmful environmental impacts of sediment in rivers and lakes while positively enhancing aquatic habitats and improving the environment.

"One of the nation's leading causes of water quality and aquatic habitat impairment is excess sediments found in lakes and rivers," said Streamside CEO, Randall Tucker. Despite countless regulations, Best Management Practices (BMP's), and other efforts to prevent erosion, sedimentation has remained a leading problem for many decades. Founded in 2002, Streamside Systems is continuously developing new technologies for environmentally-friendly sediment removal and watershed restoration. The installation and demonstration of the 30-Foot High-Capacity Collector System in Fountain Creek, Pueblo, Colorado, is the largest Collector system installed to date.

From the end of June to early July, many months of preparation will come to fruition as a new 30-foot High-Capacity Sediment Collector System, Streamside Systems' alternative to dredging, will be placed in Fountain Creek to begin the process of beneficially reclaiming bedload sediment, which is currently forming sandbars and clogging the stream during floods. The Sediment Collector will capture and remove the bedload sediments as they migrate downstream, improve stream stability, reduce flood risk to the City of Pueblo.

Don't miss the opportunity to join local and national media at the ribbon-cutting event when the 30-foot High-Capacity Sediment Collector will be placed in Fountain Creek.(Date still pending; contact Streamside Systems for more details).
