New Web App Makes Connecting With Local Barterers Easy

Startup Weekend Team Helps Small Businesses and Freelancers Stimulate The Bartering Economy

In a matter of 54 hours one Columbus team of 6 web developers, marketers and entrepreneurs developed a useful new web application. Created during Startup Weekend Columbus - an international 54-hour weekend event - the application embodies the true purpose of the weekend, which is to solve a true problem with technology. "BarterQue" is what they call it, and according to them it is one of the most valuable apps a new micro business or freelancer can use.

"BarterQue was developed with new businesses and freelancers in mind. Year one for any business is the best time to build infrastructure as well as relationships", said Josh Watters, founder of BarterQue. "We believe that BarterQue will facilitate the type of local connections necessary for growth and support among micro businesses".

With 5 of the 6 team members having experience as freelancers, their idea was driven by personal observations on what they all considered to be one of the rockiest areas when starting a business - connecting with other accessible, ready-to-grow businesses owners.

Josh Watters continued saying, "BarterQue is unique in that it aims to connect businesses with low operating budgets to the resources they need most for their growth. These local communities of web designers, photographers, lawyers, consultants, accountants, etc. all have rich skills that can be traded amongst themselves by means of a barter - leveraging true growth and relationships. Our app makes the knowledge of these kinds of opportunities for growth more common, city-to-city."

No other bartering service operates quite like BarterQue. While other online bartering communities and directories try to facilitate the actual exchange - often using point/token systems as currency - BarterQue's sole focus is on making local connections between barter-ready individuals and businesses. The simplicity and ease of use is how BarterQue will keep it's users engaged.

BarterQue beta is available for free, and can be accessed at http://barterque.com/
