New Wrinkley Sailing System
Alexander Yachts has released a new sailing system that claims to nearly double a sails power its called the Wrinkley Sailing System.
Online, February 7, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Rick Carr manager says the Wrinkley system can use sails currently on the yacht with little modification to halyards and sheets. The additional power comes from the ability to finely tune the rig and the separation of the luff from the mast ,incorporating more light weight booms on the mainsail one approximately every 3 meters of mast height(opposite spreader height)the booms are in pockets and attached by batten cars to the mast. This forms the Wrinkley rig.Extra halyards attached to each boom both ends to control height and an extra topping lift connects the trailing end of booms. This is made of spectra and kept very tight using the vang under the mainsail boom. the mainsheet is then used to control outboard to centreline movement. The result is a kitelike appearance of great power with infinite control. Unlike the bermuda rig that has limited control.
