New York Trade Show Display Firm Helps Support Fundraising Efforts for Rare Disease

Leading New York based trade show exhibit design firm, Skyline Genesis Event Marketing, takes initiative in raising awareness and funds for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)

Skyline Genesis Event Marketing, a leading New York City based trade show exhibit and event marketing company, is using its expertise in event promotion and marketing to help with the hunt for treatment and a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a devastating genetic disease. "We've come to know about this crippling disease from within our company family and we want to rally together in support and do what we can to help" stated Glenn Diehl, president of Skyline Genesis.

Rose Mercuro, ten year old daughter of Skyline Genesis Senior Account Executive Al Mercuro, is currently battling SMA. The courage she exhibits in her daily struggles and her strength and positive outlook have inspired many people in her short life. Among those touched by this special young lady is author Allen St. John who dedicated his book, The Billion Dollar Game: Behind the Scenes of the Greatest Day in American Sport - Super Bowl Sunday, to Rose. His dedication reads "For Rose Mercuro, a giant in all the ways that count."

In an initial effort to raise awareness and financial support, Skyline Genesis sponsored StandingCyclist.com's Frank Cavaluzzi in an 89 mile seatless bike ride dedicated to the SMA cause. Cavaluzzi's inspiration for the ride came from song lyrics that Rose wrote from a place of strength where many people dare not enter. The 12 hour cycling event, which began in Seneca Falls, NY, took place on October 23, 2011. Cavaluzzi's route ran along the eastern shore of Seneca Lake, over to the south western shore of Cayuga Lake, then back to the south shore of Seneca Lake and up the entire western shore to Geneva, NY. "This event's success is due to the inspiration I received from reading song lyrics by a young girl battling SMA and the support from Skyline Genesis" Cavaluzzi stated.

Details on the cycling event can be found at http://www.standingcyclist.com/istand4rose2011.html. Information about Spinal Muscular Atrophy and donation information can be found on the Families of SMA web site at http://www.fsma.org/GiftReg/dsp_donationPage.cfm?AppealCode=REGOTHE11&idUser=11364.

Since the cycling event in October, Skyline Genesis has continued to make efforts to raise awareness and funds by utilizing its expertise in promotions and marketing. "This disease has touched our hearts and this cause is near and dear to us" Diehl added.
