New Zealand IOS Developer Releases Maiden Title TrapIt To Great Reviews

Initial reviews of iOS game TrapIt are suggesting this is one title worth watching. One stating it is more fun than the mega-hit Doodle Jump.

Recently released on the App Store, New Zealand developed iOS game TrapIt has already received some extremely favourable reviews. iPhonewzealand, a popular iPhone website in New Zealand stated "..dare I compare it to the almighty Doodle Jump? Heck yes - it's a lot more fun!"

"That's an amazing start for us.", said Aaron Koolen-Bourke, developer and Director of Little Geek. "Our goals with TrapIt were two-fold. To make a game with that old arcade tension but at the same time keep it very simple and easy for casual gamers to pick up and play. Based on current feedback we've been getting, we seem to have hit that just right."

Playing TrapIt is about as simple as you get on an iOS game. You make horizontal or vertical swipes to draw walls which separate the speeding prisms that are moving around the screen. When all prisms are separated from each other the level finishes.

However, the challenge and arcade intensity becomes immediately apparent. First, you only have a limited time to complete the level or you lose a life. When all three lives are gone, it's game over. Second, the more area you have filled before separating that final prism, the more bonus points you get. Therefore you can take the easy route for minimal score or push the time limit to the edge to fill that final little bit for maximum points. Thirdly, in later levels if you can manage to get prisms of one single colour inside an area you get Color Bonus points awarded at the end of the level. And to top it all off, every second level starts with an additional prism so it becomes increasingly harder the more you progress.

"I have to be honest, I was a little worried that casual gamers would not take to an arcade title." said Aaron. "But I was very pleased when my wife, a very casual gamer who typically plays games like Jezzball, Tetris and Scrabble, agreed to playtest it for me and an hour later still couldn't put it down."

If after challenging yourself to your limits you still want more, TrapIt incorporates online leader-boards and achievements via the popular OpenFeint system adding opportunities for players to challenge themselves against others.

"We had to have leader-boards in TrapIt. The whole game is built around pushing yourself to do better than the last time, be that in score or level. Comparing your skills against other people was an obvious step we had to take."

TrapIt is available on the iTunes store now at a US$0.99 launch special and Little Geek already has plans for an update that should be coming in the next few weeks which will add GameCenter support and some requested features.
