New Zealand's Orcon Unveiled As Latest Customer For I-conX's Interconnect Billing Solution

PTC Hawaii, January 2012 : Award-winning internet communications provider Orcon of New Zealand is unveiled as the latest customer for the i-conX Interconnect Billing solution and service.

i-conX solutions, the world's fastest growing inter-carrier billing and routing solutions vendor, today announced that New Zealand ISP Orcon is the latest customer to enter live service with its hosted a-s-p interconnect billing service, acclaimed since 2001 as the most cost-efficient hosted delivery platform available for the inter-carrier business sector, and in use with leading telcos worldwide, including Vodafone, UPC and KPN group affiliates.

Under the terms of the contract, Orcon users will locally access and operate the i-conX v.10 billing software via a remotely hosted, secure, fully web-based solution. File importation, rates management, rating tasks and data storage are hosted offsite, providing for end-to-end resilience and a lean and rapidly-enabled deployment model backed by full security and disaster recovery provisions.

The deal was announced at PTC 2012, Hawaii, since 1977 the premier annual telecommunications event spanning the Pacific region.
Orcon, New Zealand's fastest growing telecommunications company, delivers an innovative mix of voice and internet services domestically across New Zealand, together with a strong and growing wholesale business profile in the international market. i-conX's solution will process the interconnect billing requirements for the full scope of voice and data products and services, in both domestic and international arenas.

In deploying its solution i-conX faced a key challenge to enable its system in parallel to an extensive ongoing schedule of Orcon service innovations and IT projects, culminating in its July 2011 roll-out of the game-changing "Genius" VoiP device bundle to the New Zealand domestic market. In this special climate i-conX was required to achieve a smooth and rapid migration from Orcon's legacy billing systems, to challenging deadlines, yet delivering minimal disruptive impact to Orcon's own resources already assigned to other projects.

Commenting for Orcon, Chief Technology Officer Thomas Salmen said : "The best tribute I can pay is, that in my experience, I know a project has gone well when I barely even hear about it.
"The way the i-conX team came into the business, scoped out the project, and executed it without any disruption, was a real point of positive difference."

On behalf of i-conX, head of Sales and Marketing Gavin Stewart commented, "Orcon is a fine example of the new breed of convergent voice and data provider, whose complex requirements impose huge pressures on billing systems to perform with agility. During a very busy year for Orcon, we were especially pleased to deliver the solution on-time and, in fact, with a lower final man-days impact upon Orcon resources versus project estimates".

"This latest win enables us to further strengthen our regionally based support and development resources, and greatly strengthens our growing profile in the Pacific region."
