Newberry Dazzles Winter Haven During First Public Campaign Appearance

Newberry makes an impressive showing in first public campaign appearance for Florida House District 66 in Winter Haven.

Among throngs of supporters, Gary Newberry, Republican candidate for Florida House District 66, made an impressive showing in his first public 2010 campaign appearance Saturday in Winter Haven.

Amid the aroma of cooking hamburgers, hot dogs, fresh corn on the cob and baked beans, waving American flags and red, white and blue balloons, Gary Newberry met and spoke with voters.

The free event drew folks concerned with their government, property taxes, homeowner insurance, education, environmental issues, offshore-drilling, urban sprawl, economic development and the State's illegal immigration problem.

In the late afternoon heat, eased by a cool breeze from an approaching afternoon thunderstorm, attendees were entertained by music, good food, cold drinks and camaraderie. Shaking hands and listening intently, Newberry encouraged the attendees to share their concerns and voice their ideas on what measures should be taken to address the problems. Many passersby on Cypress Gardens Boulevard and Third Street expressed their support for Gray Newberry by horn-honking and hand waving.

Saturday's gathering was a true old-fashioned grass roots meet-the-candidate handshaking event.

If Saturday's event was any measure of the future success of the Newberry Campaign, Gary Newberry is certain to gain the support of the voting community and be the runaway candidate for the Florida House - District 66 race.
