Newmarket Viaduct Assists With Transit Challenges In Auckland

Newmarket Alliance Project Manager Ian Harbeck tells Business Review Australia how the Newmarket Viaduct will help meet transit challenges in one of the busiest areas of Auckland.

(San Diego, CA)- In an interview with Business Review Australia, Newmarket Alliance Project Manager Ian Harbeck says that the Newmarket Viaduct will help meet transit challenges in one of the busiest areas of Auckland.

But replacing an entire viaduct would be a daunting task. "To meet this challenge we have devised a highly innovative staged approach to construction and deconstruction that will also allow us to open up the new, wider (four-lane) southbound motorway in time for the Rugby World Cup 2011," says Ian. The project will be fully completed by the end of 2012.

About Newmarket Connection Viaduct Project:

NGA Newmarket is the second generation of an Alliance originally formed to deliver the Northern Gateway Toll Road project: a 7.5km stretch of motorway north of Auckland, incorporating bridges and tunnels to minimise the environmental footprint on an extremely challenging native bush landscape. Here in Newmarket, the environmental challenges are of a far more urban nature, with the project goal to not only enhance motorway traffic flow, but improve local pedestrian links and facilitate the opportunity for progressive local development.
