Next Day Moulding Boston Donates To This Old House Roxbury Project

January 8, 2010--Next Day Moulding Boston is donating the moulding to be used in the This Old House Roxbury project, which begins airing nationally on PBS Thursday, January 28, as part of the show's 30th anniversary season (check www.thisoldhouse.com/tvschedule or your local listings).

The This Old House Roxbury project is a Second Empire dual family home, built in the 1870s. The home, with its elegant mansard roof and dormer windows, had been sitting empty and abandoned--yet another victim in the wave of foreclosures plaguing this hard-hit area. Affordable housing non-profit, Nuestra Comunidad wound up purchasing the property in a deal with the City of Boston. It has rebuilt hundreds of homes, but none like the This Old House Roxbury project. "Typically, the homes we work on don't have this much architectural character," says Nuestra Comunidad project manager Gavin McLear, "That's why we're happy to have This Old House on board."

With the experts from This Old House, contractors like David Lopes who is well-versed in historic preservation and affordable housing, and donors such as Next Day Moulding Boston, the renovation in Roxbury will be a gift back to this town and the two deserving families who get to live there when the project is completed and sold.
