nogaholding Partners With GHGSat for High-Resolution Satellite Data

The Oil and Gas Holding Company B.S.C. (closed) ("nogaholding") has partnered with GHGSat to utilize its state-of-the-art satellite constellation and emissions intelligence to support the Group's decarbonization goals.

The project is set to be the first of its kind and aims to deploy new technologies to monitor greenhouse gases and methane emissions, in line with the commitment made by His Royal Highness, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at the COP26 Summit to reduce methane emissions by 30% by 2030 and achieve Net-Zero by 2060.

Mr. Mark Thomas, Group Chief Executive Officer of nogaholding, commented: "nogaholding is focused on the transition into sustainable, environmentally conscious energy production. Our partnership with GHGSat will help accelerate our transformation, using the latest satellite technologies and industry expertise to achieve our goals."

"We aim to deploy GHGSat's unique fleet of high-resolution satellites to monitor various industrial asset locations in the Kingdom. The data will serve to support our mitigation efforts as we move towards fulfilling Bahrain's Vision 2030 and our net-zero emission goals," he added.

Stephane Germain, CEO of GHGSat, said, "We look forward to working alongside nogaholding on this landmark project to support the Kingdom of Bahrain's national energy ambition. Satellites are a cost-effective and proven system for observing emissions, providing accurate, reliable, and frequent data to support decarbonization strategies."

Through GHGSat's cutting-edge emission monitoring solution, nogaholding will have access to accurate and frequent data critical to improving environmental practices. With the high-resolution remote sensing of greenhouse gas from space, the Group will be able to make use of actionable metrics to bolster its sustainability efforts.
