PowerSouth Energy Cooperative provides high-quality services with more than 600 electrical power generation and transmission employees servicing six power plants, and a transmission network spanning more than 2,272 miles of electricity lines and 294 substations that service 16 electric cooperatives and four municipal electric systems in Alabama and Northwest Florida.

PowerSouth was challenged to effectively manage all their processes, people and content across departments, including Corporate Counsel, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Engineering, Drawings, and Right of Way. PowerSouth partnered with enChoice to deploy and create a comprehensive case management solution which could be used to support processes enterprise-wide.  

The enChoice solution replaced PowerSouth’s legacy document management system, streamlining several processes and bringing greater efficiency to various functional areas. A new web-based platform supports multiple enterprise application integrations, allows information sharing for all the departments, eliminates the need for staff to key in information manually, and reduces the risk of error. This solution included Enterprise Content and Case Management products from IBM, enChoice’s KwikWork product suite (KwikWork|Legal, KwikWork|UX, and KwikWork|Integrator), and enChoice’s CYA HOTBackup and Granular Recovery products to support regulations around data protection and business continuity. 

KwikWork is a configurable, off-the-shelf solution that rapidly delivers the functionality required to realize the maximum return on ECM and ACM investments. KwikWork empowered PowerSouth to easily deploy line of business (LOB) applications and Case Management solutions without the time, money and risks associated with custom development.  Built using recognized material design concepts, KwikWork improves user productivity by providing an intuitive and engaging experience.

Overall results of the enChoice solution for PowerSouth include the ability to:

  • Attain a 360º view of legal matters, associated tasks, and related content
  • Provide security and compliance as required by regulatory changes
  • Save 23% on total development costs and over 35% in maintenance costs
