Nominations will close at midnight GMT, Sunday, May 23rd.
Votes on the nominees will begin at midnight May 25th, and the polls will close at midnight May 31st. A second round of polls will be scheduled among the finalists with the top vote tallies.
Winners and runners-up in Best Nursing Blog, New Nursing Blog and Influential Post will receive Kiva gift certificates; winners can choose either to redeem them or donate them to the poor. The awards:
First place, $150 certificate.
First runner-up, $75 certificate.
Second runner up, $25 certificate.
Kiva is a nonprofit that issues these certificates as a means to provide microloans to needy people around the world. Premal Shah, its president, told the BBC about the mission. "We realise that poverty is everywhere on Earth and now more than ever access to capital is so difficult for small businesses," he said. Those selected in the remaining categories will receive badges that can be displayed on their websites.
