CCFC Awards $2,500 Grant the to Boys & Girls Club

Central Coast Funds for Children (CCFC) recently awarded $2,500 to the Boys & Girls Club of North San Luis Obispo County. The grant will be used to support Project Learn, a nationally recognized academic program that reinforces the academic enrichment and school engagement of young people during the time they spend at the Club. Project Learn also emphasizes parent involvement and collaboration between Club and school professionals as critical factors in creating the best after-school learning environment for Club members.

Central Coast Funds for Children members understand the importance of mentoring, monitoring and encouraging children today and recognize how valuable the Boys & Girls Club is to their community's future. "Research has indicated that children do much better in school when they spend their non-school hours engaged in fun, but academically beneficial, activities," said Lauren Cross, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of North San Luis Obispo County. "More than 30 percent of our youth don't graduate high school. This is not just a problem for parents or schools. It is a societal problem that affects our community as a whole."
The Boys & Girls Club offer nationally recognized programs that have proven to impact the youth in positive ways. All investments in the Boys & Girls Club are investments in the futures of many young people who go to the Club for a safe, fun place to go, positive adult role models, academic assistance, and impactful, engaging programs. You can help change the future of an at-risk youth from one with limited options to one filled with hope and opportunity.
