Nortec EHR Receives CCHIT Certifications
Online, May 26, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Williston Park, NY - Nortec Software Inc, a leading provider of electronic health record (EHR) solutions, announced today that Nortec EHR 7.0 has earned the designation as a fully CCHIT Certified® 2011 Ambulatory EHR, a Preliminary ARRA IFR Stage 1 certified EHR and a recipient of a five star usability rating, the commission's highest ranking. Nortec's EHR is one of the first EHR systems to receive all of these credentials from the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), which is intended to give healthcare providers maximum assurance that a product will meet their complex needs
Nortec EHR 7.0 underwent two levels of inspections for the separate programs. For the CCHIT program, the product was inspected using real-life medical scenarios designed to test products rigorously against the functionality, interoperability and security needs of providers. Nortec EHR 7.0 passed inspection of 100% of CCHIT's 2011 criteria for physician practice-based use, including verification of successful use at live sites.
Nortec EHR 7.0 was also inspected by CCHIT to preliminarily meet 19 of the 24 requirements of the Preliminary ARRA IFR Stage 1 certification for Eligible Providers published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Inspection information is available at http://www.cchit.org/products. For the purpose of qualifying products for ARRA incentives, CCHIT anticipates, but has not yet received, accreditation by HHS.
"This is a wonderful milestone for us. We believe that by proving ourselves through these stringent tests and being one of the first EHR systems to receive both of these certifications and a full five-star usability rating confirms our leadership and commitment to providing a system that is robust and secure but also remains practical and easy to use for physicians and members of their practices," said Ajmal Sheikh, Nortec President and CEO.
The CCHIT certification program provides a "stamp of approval" for EHR products. This certification reduces the risk for physicians in selecting, purchasing and implementing EHR systems and allows them to focus on the needs of their practice.
