North India Women-only Tour Offers Extraordinary Insight into Culture

Unique itinerary brings India to life through exclusive opportunities to experience the culture first-hand

A select group of female travelers will embark on a journey this fall that will take them into the heart of Indian culture. Setting out on a 16-day adventure through fascinating northern India, the women will step into history by visiting ancient temples and palaces, gaze upon iconic world treasures such as the Taj Mahal and mingle with merchants and artisans as they shop lively bazaars for silk and spices.

Offered by WanderTours, which specializes in small-group tours and founded by travel expert Beth Whitman, travelers will be right in the center of the action. They'll join the celebrations of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, by taking part in a traditional puja (prayer); roll up their sleeves for a hands-on cooking class to learn Indian culinary techniques; and jump in to the bustling, vibrant daily life of the holy city of Varanasi on the Ganges River. Whether riding camels through the dunes of Rajasthan or witnessing a private performance of classical Indian music, tour participants will have countless opportunities for true cultural immersion.

Joslin Fritz, the tour leader for this group, has an extensive background in guiding and adventure travel, and offers special insights into the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of India. Knowledgeable local guides who are well versed in the area's unique culture, history and religion will also provide a personal inside look at daily Indian life to the travelers.

This WanderTour is limited to just 15 women. The cost is $4,725 and includes in-country transportation, accommodation, guides and all meals. Tour dates are October 25 - November 9, 2011.
