Norton Launches Applications Support Service for Proteomics Researchers
Norton Scientific, responding to the needs of the global research community, is proud to announce that the company has launched a new applications support service targeting the field of proteomics.
Online, March 1, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Bryan Webb, President of Norton Scientific Inc., a recognized leader in the development of innovative measurement tools necessary to advance pharmaceutical and biotech research, is pleased to announce as part of Norton's ongoing strategic development, the company has launched a new specialist applications development laboratory service. This service, to be based initially at their head office, will build on the global reputation and expertise contained within the company that has so far been focused on developing innovative instrumentation for a variety of bio-molecular research applications.
According to Webb, the new service will be available to both customers for the current PAM™ and AstraGene™ instruments used for rapid DNA/RNA and protein measurements in early stage drug discovery research labs, and those interested in developing and validating advanced macromolecular separation sample analysis protocols for complex materials used in drug delivery, nano-technology, nutraceuticals and environmental monitoring.
"With the launch of this exciting new venture, Norton will be able to better serve existing customers by providing a professional method validation package as our instruments are increasingly used for QC/QA, creating a step change in sales growth," explains Webb.
"At the same time, we can develop a much better understanding of how Norton technological innovation can be applied to satisfying the future needs of customers for low cost, rapid solutions to their analytical requirements," he concludes.
The company has conducted an extensive search for an experienced Analytical Method Development Specialist and is currently in final negotiations to secure a partnership with a leading Indian Biotechnology instrumentation company to manage this new business operation which will look to service a range of key research clients from around the world.
Norton's proprietary hand-held unit, PAM™, a compact protein aggregation monitor, was developed to study how proteins aggregate in solution and will be used in a wide range of markets from healthcare, biomaterials and green industries to viticulture, including brewing.
Norton is currently conducting additional advanced research on microfluidic separation, sensor hardware and computational software, and intends to fully commercialize their analytical and process control systems, which will contain significant elements of patentable technology used to develop OEM and technology licenses with the major instrumentation companies.
