"Notes from the New World" Trailers Released and Post-Production in Completion
Online, June 14, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Los Angeles, Calif. - June XX, 2010: Following their adaptation of Dostoevsky's "White Nights," VM Productions has just released two trailers for their new film "Notes from the New World." The film is a post-modern reworking of Fyodor Dostoevsky's classic novella, "Notes from the Underground." It tells the story of a young actor who becomes obsessed with a Russian call girl and soon finds himself mixed up with the Russian mafia, murder, and millions of dollars.
After a long pre-production of careful planning, research, and casting, the production went smoothly with a talented young cast and crew. Now, the film is near completion. Writer, director, and producer Vitaly Sumin wants to expose young American audiences to the universal themes of love, angst, and redemption through his exciting adaptation of Dostoevsky's brilliant writings. While the original writings may seem a bit heavy for today's audiences, "Notes from the New World" weaves in plenty of suspense, surprises, and humor. Vitaly Sumin calls his "Notes" a "post-modern tragic-comic fairytale."
Vitaly Sumin's previous film "Shades of Day," based on Dostoevsky's "White Nights," was included in Rutgers University Professor Gerard Pirog's course in cinema, along with classic works by Bertolucci, Kurosawa, Bresson, Scorsese, Shroeder, and Von Sternberg. Both "Shades of Day" and "Notes from the New World" are a part of Sumin's ambitious LA-Dostoevsky project.
VM Productions is dedicated to the art of independent filmmaking, developing and producing quality films based on original stories and masterpieces of world literature. Our films deal with a variety of contemporary issues often neglected by the mainstream cinema.
