CollegeAmerica has recently added an Associate Degree in Nursing at their Denver campus for students interested in pursuing a nursing career. The 20-month Associate Degree in Nursing is often treated as a stepping stone to a BSN.

Denver, CO, March 25, 2010- CollegeAmerica has recently added an Associate Degree in Nursing at its Denver campus for students interested in pursuing a nursing career.

Gloria Ohmart Ed.D-c, RN who is the Director of Nursing Education at CollegeAmerica, stated that "The Associate Degree in Nursing prepares a student to become a Registered Nurse (RN) and is often a stepping stone to the BSN Now, for the first time at CollegeAmerica, students aspiring to become RNs can complete the prerequisites and nursing courses in only 20 months to achieve that dream,"

The ADN program is approved by the State Board of Nursing in Colorado. All students need to complete general education courses, nursing foundation courses, and complete the nursing selection requirements prior to an interview with the nursing admission committee. All graduates are prepared to sit for the National Council of Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), and apply for a licensure to practice as a registered nurse in any of the 50 states or U.S. territories.

Students interested in this ADN program will be trained to utilize theory and research-based knowledge in the provision of care to the client, family, and community. Apart from flexibility, job security and good salaries, an associate degree in nursing will provide a variety of work options as well. You can choose from hospitals, private-practice clinics, federal nursing agencies, schools or even the military. Included as part of the course curriculum are medical-surgical nursing, obstetrical nursing, pediatric nursing, and mental health nursing - all knowledge that remains in high demand throughout Colorado and the country.

Students must complete the enrollment agreement and go through financial aid to declare how they are financing their education. A variety of student financial aid programs are available for those who qualify, including an EduLoan Program which significantly improves the opportunities for students to afford college.

With the increasing need for qualified nurses, especially those with advanced education and skills, and the current shortage of registered nurses in the U.S. today, nursing is soon proving to be a profession and a career option definitely worth considering.
