NowThis Surpasses One Billion Video Views per Month; Launches New Content Verticals on Facebook and Positions Itself for Unique Social Video Coverage of Presidential Election

NowThis, a leading distributed media company that produces and distributes short-form video centered on news for the social feed, announced today that it had a record-breaking month in February with more than 1.1 billion video views. Today’s announcement comes on the heels of the company raising $16.2 million in December, led by German media giant Axel Springer. The company now produces more than 60+ pieces of video content on a daily basis, and the videos are delivered natively to a number of different platforms - including Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Tumblr, as well as Chinese platforms Weibo and WeChat

NowThis has also launched four new content verticals on Facebook: Election, Tech (Future), Entertainment and Weed, and plans for more verticals in the first half of this year. Kenneth Lerer, Chairman of NowThis, said “Things couldn’t be on a better track for NowThis. Short-form social video is the sweet spot of the digital content industry and NowThis sits as one of the leaders of the distributed video content model. With Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube and others leading the way, video content is the future of the digital content business. Brands and advertisers now understand the promise of distributed video content, and you can only expect the industry to explode in the coming years. NowThis wants to be one of the leaders in this space.”

This past year was when we built significant scale, and we plan to continue that in the year ahead by launching new content verticals and leaning into the Presidential election in a unique and meaningful way. Our NowThis Election channel launched less than 6 months ago and has shown tremendous growth month over month. This tells us that our audience is deeply engaged in the election and looking to be informed in new ways - primarily in the form of video that is consumed on a mobile device and through a social feed.

• 74% of audience is under 34; 68% is between 18-34
