ObamaCare Is Here - And It's Probably Going To Affect You

In hopes to make healthcare more affordable, has the federal government made it impossible to now get low cost individual health insurance?
This press release is being made to inform you that a new bill has been passed that is essentially requiring all taxpaying Americans to get "minimum" health insurance coverage.
According to the bill, it's not actually against the law to not have coverage. However, you will pay a fine, which could be up to as much as 2.5% of your household income if you do not have health insurance coverage. Rest assured that if you do not want to get health coverage, you don't have to, but you should expect to pay more in taxes. The IRS can reduce your refund and even start collections on you if you don't pay your bill.
If you already have health insurance through your job, you probably do not need to be concerned about this. But if you are unemployed or own your own business, then it's time to make sure that you have this coverage. Because regardless of whether this is fair, constitutional, or otherwise, if you have to pay a fine because you don't have it, that's just money down the drain that could have been going towards protecting yourself.
The question still remains, is it even going to be possible for the 50 million plus Americans to get health insurance? Now that it's mandatory, is the government expecting the cost to go up or down? Simple supply and demand principles would suggest that the cost is going to skyrocket, especially now that the "uninsurable" must get insurance (or suffer the consequences) - that's just going to raise the cumulative risk pool for everybody.
There is still no low income health insurance available. And if you've looked at prices lately, even before the bill was passed, you must have noticed the absurd amounts needed to pay a monthly premium. Family policies of "average" coverage could cost more than $300/month. And this amount does not usually decrease if you don't use it, like car insurance might. It usually increases from year to year as you get older! So how are families with a low income supposed to pay for this? I'm unsure.
Is this going to solve the problem of healthcare costs by having everybody insured? I personally don't see the logic in that. The costs are still the same, right? But regardless, this is the way it's going to be.
