October 2nd Benefit Will Support the NoMad Alliance and the Future of New York's Fast Improving NoMad Neighborhood

NoMad’s community leaders will join together on October 2nd to benefit the future work of the NoMad Alliance, the organization that has been primarily responsible for the stunning rise of the area over the past eight years.

“THIS IS NOMAD”—the organization’s first benefit—will be held on October 2nd at the Gansevoort Park Hotel Penthouse, 420 Park Avenue South at 28th Street.  It will feature entertainment by Grammy-award winning artist Frank Catalano celebrating NoMad’s historical Tin Pan Alley and food selections specially created for the event to personify NoMad by our best neighborhood chefs.  Information about and tickets for the event are available at benefit.nomadalliance.nyc.

Leading the list of early sponsors are Meridian Capital Group, Breather, and The Gansevoort Park.  To date, the NoMad Chefs who are donating their services to the event include Black Barn, The Flatiron Room, I Trulli, La Pecora Bianca, and Pondicheri.  There has also been groundswell support from area merchants, who have been donating generous packages for the benefit’s Silent Auction.

The reputation of the NoMad District has grown exponentially since 2009, driving property values to new heights and seeding new business and development in the area.  NoMad has become home to the finest families, hotels, restaurants, shops, businesses, and architecture. It has developed into a center of innovative technology and creative firms while establishing a character that is unique, vibrant, diverse and international.

Leslie Spira Lopez, president of the NoMad Alliance, made the purpose of the benefit clear, “The community believes there is much more that can be accomplished, and the new funding from the benefit will allow the Alliance to put in place an executive director and limited staff.  With full-time management, the Alliance will be able to realize plans for the NoMad Jazz Festival, pre-restaurant week, neighborhood open nights to introduce the businesses and products of NoMad, and many more of the opportunities, which are presented to the NoMad community each week.  The Alliance will also be able to improve the area’s quality of life by bringing important issues to the Community Board and City Agencies.”
