Oddsmaker.com Releases Odds to Win 83rd Annual Academy Awards

"The King's Speech" and "The Social Network" heavy favorites in key categories

Oddsmaker.com, a prominent website for setting odds on various events, has released its updated odds for the 83rd Academy Awards, which will be held later this month. Early odds were posted in January, but after the official nominations, odds have changed significantly.

"The Social Network," which recently won a Golden Globe for Best Picture, was favored in early posted odds, but has now been surpassed by "The King's Speech" as the new favorite. The biggest underdogs in the Best Picture category are "Toy Story 3," "The Kids Are Alright," and "Winters Bone."

Colin Firth's performance in "The King's Speech" earned him a Golden Globe for Best Actor, and he is also favored to win the Academy Award by a huge margin. He is followed by James Franco ("127 Hours") and Jesse Eisenberg ("The Social Network"), who are both still longshots in the category.

David Fincher ("The Social Network") won the Golden Globe for Best Director and was heavily favored in the pre-nomination odds to win that category at the Academy Awards, however Tom Hooper ("The King's Speech") has moved up the odds ranks and is now almost even with Fincher.

The Academy Awards will be held on February 27, 2011.
Oddsmaker.com has been setting odds for events from sports to entertainment since 1998.
