Ohio Plant Begins Production of 2013 Honda Accords
The first of the all new redesigned 2013 Honda Accords are fresh off the assembly line at Honda's Ohio plant northwest of Columbus, Ohio.
Online, August 22, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Honda is proud to announce that the first of the all new redesigned 2013 Honda Accords rolled off of an Ohio assembly line on Monday just northwest of Columbus. Over 9 million Honda Accords have been manufactured at the Ohio plant since 1982 when Honda became the first Japanese automaker with a manufacturing plant in the United States.
"For 30 years, the Accord has been the signature vehicle from Honda, and it remains the industry benchmark in a very competitive segment," said Hide Iwata, president and chief executive of Honda of America Manufacturing.
The 2012 Honda Accord is the second biggest selling vehicle in the United States behind the Toyota Camry, which makes the 2013 Honda Accord the most important new vehicle for Honda this year. The newest version of the Honda Accord will roll out into dealerships in September.
Honda leaders are hoping that the all new redesign of the Accord will help it finally outsell other competitors in the mid-sized sedan segment, such as the Camry, Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion, Chevy Malibu and Hyundai Sonata. This segment is by far the most competitive segment and Honda hopes to outperform the rest with the ninth-generation Honda Accord.
