OIC Moments Blog Adds Insight to Everyday Experiences
The OIC Moments blog, from OIC Books, is rapidly emerging as a place to find and celebrate curiosity, imagination, discovery, and those "Oh, I see!" revelations, big and small, that happen all around us everyday.
Online, October 3, 2012 (Newswire.com) - OIC Books' latest post in the OIC Moments blog looks at the surreal photographs of Giuseppe Mastromatteo and how they feed the senses to challenge and stretch our imagination. Other recent posts cite a will.i.am song as an illustration of the "aha moment" as defined by Merriam-Webster, and shared a travel photo and firsthand experience that brought home the life lesson "be careful what you wish for." In just a few weeks, the OIC Moments blog is already illustrating a capacity to draw on a diverse array of everyday ideas and experiences, and offer new perspectives.
The OIC Moments blog is designed to collect and share insights and discoveries that range from the everyday to the truly spectacular. The blog is based on the idea that OIC (as in "Oh, I see!") moments are everywhere, and that we should seek them out everyday to help improve and enrich our lives. According to OIC, these daily insights can be plain and practical, helping you put a little problem in the past. Others might have the most unserious of consequences-the kind that just puts a smile of understanding on your face. Still others may be more profound, resulting in a U-turn as you see life in a new way. All of these discoveries lead to "OIC Moments" and will be highlighted in the blog. As summarized by OIC's founder and President Sheron Long, "Very few OIC Moments are epiphanies, but all lead to worthwhile insights in life."
According to Long, OIC's mission is to enrich people's lives through connections to positive, creative ideas and diverse cultures. "I value curiosity, imagination, innovation, and different perspectives," says Sherry, "because constant discovery-saying 'Oh, I see!' about something everyday-keeps the mind growing and the eyes seeing farther and farther into the world. Creating this blog was a natural extension of that philosophy, and hopefully it will become a place where people come regularly to seek and share inspiration." According to Long, who has authored the initial blog posts, interactivity also plays a big part in the OIC Moments blog. "We encourage readers to add their comments to the OIC moments featured in our blog posts and to participate in the interactive polls that will often be included," Sherry added, "and visitors to the blog can also use a general comment window in the sidebar to record and share any kind of OIC moment they experienced that day."
Long is one of several bloggers who will be posting to the site. "Having multiple bloggers sharing their moments is part of celebrating different perspectives, points of view, and insights," says Sherry, "and our hope is that by creating a gathering place for these observations, any one person's OIC moment will also become an insight for others."
