ABOUT ATLANTA MUSIC PROJECT:
ATLANTA MUSIC PROJECT (AMP) is a tax-exempt, 501(c)3 organization with the mission of transforming the lives of Atlanta's underprivileged children through youth orchestras and choirs.
Investing early in youth in underserved communities is a practice of The Atlanta Music Project. Piloted at the Gilbert House, a cultural center located in Southwest Atlanta and operated by the City Of Atlanta Office Of Cultural Affairs, it offers an intense 5-day-a-week program of classical, orchestral training, a safe haven for at-risk youth, musical instruments for each child, field trips to various Atlanta cultural institutions, and instills confidence, creativity and ambition through practice and live concert performances. AMP is inspired by El Sistema ('The System'), Venezuela's globally-acclaimed National Youth Orchestra System, the Venezuelan music-education program founded in 1975 by Dr. Jose Antonio Abreu.
