The Project Management Institute (PMI) has released plans for an Agile Exam that will certify a project manager's knowledge of Agile techniques and methodologies. Certified Scrum Masters (CSM) ask "Why"?
In a world dominated by the Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI's certification will likely become the standard for all methods of iterative development, including Scrum. However, there has been a wave of backlash from supporters of Scrum methodology who already have a certification in Scrum (the CSM) and do not see the need for another certification. These Scrum supporters can be found on message boards arguing the merits of PMI's role in Agile. However, there are supporters of PMI's Agile Certification Exam who contend that PMI, with their expertise in promoting the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, is strategically placed to promote Agile methodologies and increase adoption in the mainstream business world.
For these supporters who plan on taking the Agile pilot test in September, there is already an agile exam test preparation website complete with an agile exam sample test. The sample exams on AgileExams.com assess their knowledge of Agile and iterative development against PMI's list of reference text in order to prepare them for the September exam. With over 400 unique questions, instant online access from multiple computers, and an intuitive and easy to use interface, AgileExams.com is poised to become the training provider of choice for aspiring Agile certified project managers.
