One Spay At A Time Offering Affordable Spaying/Neutering To Eastern Iowans
One Spay at a Time is a mobile, low cost spaying/neutering service determined to reduce the numbers of cats and dogs euthanized each year in animal shelters
Online, April 15, 2013 (Newswire.com) - One Spay at a Time is a new, low cost, mobile spay/neuter program started in 2012 by Dr. Jeanne Hedges, a 1999 graduate of Iowa State University with 7 years of experience in private practice and 6 years of experience in shelter medicine performing more then 2,500 spay/neuter surgeries per year. She has developed a strong desire from her experience in animal sheltering to reduce the numbers of cats and dogs euthanized every year due to overpopulation. Various organizations report from 3-5 million unwanted dogs and cats euthanized every year in shelters, and this only reflects organizations that officially report their statistics. The numbers are likely considerably higher.
The only proven method of reducing these numbers is to encourage people to spay and neuter their pets and offer affordable means for cities, neighborhoods and farm owners to spay and neuter feral cat populations. The program is open to everyone. Proof of Financial need is not required.
One Spay at a Time works through five organizations in the east central Iowa and west central Illinois area who generously provide space for Dr. Hedges to set up her equipment. Dr. Hedges has very high medical standards reflected in her state of the art equipment, certified technician and surgical techniques. Care of the individual patient is the primary goal.
Links to these participating organizations can be found on the website, or you can conctact Dr. Hedges directly through her website, www.onespayatatime.com, or by phone at 563-650-5720.
