OneSignal Reaches 1.2 Billion Devices Across 130,000 Apps and Websites

OneSignal is a seed stage YC backed startup that makes it simple for developers to add free personalized push notifications to their mobile apps including iOS 10 media notifications, Android Rich Notifications, or to browsers via the new Web Push API specification. In addition, former MoPub/Twitter Exec Kevin Weatherman joins OneSignal as VP of Business Development

Today, OneSignal, a push notification platform aimed at mobile app and web publishers, is proud to announce reaching the impressive milestone of 1.2 Billion Devices, and 400M monthly unique users across over 130,000 Apps and Websites -- A 250% increase in 6 months. In addition, Kevin Weatherman has joined the team to lead business development, sales and client success. Kevin will also be starting OneSignal’s New York office.

Introducing Web Push was very easy to do and the impact was very clear. If you compare the amount of effort to the amount of impact, it was an unparalleled ROI to anything else we've tried.

OneSignal was started 2 years ago and initially focused on the mobile gaming market. Since then, OneSignal has been hard at work building a push platform for all mobile applications and websites. In April 2015, OneSignal was one of the first vendors to support the new Web Push API Specification, and has since become the market leader as online publishers adopt this new browser feature to send news and transactional messages to their visitors.

YouNow reported that Web Push, powered by OneSignal, improved their 14-day website retention by 19% when measured in an A/B test.

With the recent release of iOS 10 notification attachments, Android 7’s notification actions, and rapidly evolving Web Push API, it has become increasingly hard for developers to keep up with new features. Developers like Mic (mic.com), YouNow (younow.com) and ProductHunt (producthunt.com) rely on OneSignal’s technology and support to deliver the best experiences for users.

With this milestone and the addition of Kevin, OneSignal aims to solidify its lead as the go-to notification platform for all websites and mobile applications.

Kevin joins OneSignal with 10 years of experience working with Publishers and advertising technology. He previously worked at MoPub as VP of Business Development, joining as the first business hire and building MoPub’s business team in New York. In October 2013, MoPub was acquired by Twitter where Kevin remained as Director of Global Strategic Publisher Sales, leading key deals with publishers like Zynga, Disney and ESPN.

“Kevin’s skillset, subject matter expertise, and industry relationships will be critical for us in the coming months and years,” founder George Deglin writes. “Over 10,000 clients are registering with OneSignal a month, and we’ve been looking for someone of Kevin’s caliber to complement our technical strengths and further our market leadership. Bringing Kevin onboard was a no-brainer.”

At OneSignal, Kevin will be running sales, business development, and expanding partnerships with OneSignal’s existing 75,000 developers and publishers.

OneSignal is a startup that makes it simple for developers to add personalized mobile and web push notifications for free. OneSignal has raised $2.5 million in seed funding from Rakuten Ventures, Y Combinator, SV Angel, Start Fund, and angel investors including Justin Kan (YC Partner and Founder of Twitch) and Zack Coelius (Founder of Triggit and investor in Cruise Automation).
