Online Career Advancement, known for their online medical coding and health care career prep programs, today announced that they will use Moodle to offer a bold new approach to online GED
(General Educational Diploma) tests preparation and training services. Moodle is a very powerful, feature packed, Course Management System (CMS), also known as a Learning Management System (LMS) or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), used by colleges and universities worldwide to provide online learning programs.
The mission of the Online Career Advancement GED training program is to facilitate the attainment of knowledge and skills that will prepare participants for employment, higher level academic opportunities, and an enhanced overall learning experience.
Online Career Advancement has developed successful online learning programs for college students and professionals, using Moodle, since early 2007, and with other CMS's since 2003. "Since the American Council on Education (ACE), developer of the GED tests, has solid plans to computerize the testing process, we thought that it would be significantly beneficial to offer the most motivated and independent GED seekers an opportunity to learn online the way college students do; although there are numerous online GED test prep programs, most do not offer students the robust, personalized, interactive, instructor supported environment that the Online Career Advancement GED program does", says Leonard Cox, lead developer for the new online GED training program.
Professor Cox emphasized, "Our online GED program offers participants more control over their progress and implements feature like internal messaging, forums, blogs, chats, activity tracking for lessons, tests and grades, periodic updates with notices, technical and student support, and much more; and all at affordable fees. Moodle also allows us to offer our GED test prep students access to numerous supplemental resources and references, all within the same secure system; these features, benefits, and services will enhance the learning experience and help prepare participants for a technology driven world."
Online Career Advancement has been corresponding with the American Council on Education to ensure continued development of an online GED training program that closely models official standards and requirements.
The Online Career Advancement GED training program is open for registration now; all courses are scheduled to begin about mid-April 2010. Interested persons who join the Online Career Advancement mailing list via their website can select to register for a GED course at cost or obligation; the free course is designed to prepare GED test takers to achieve their highest possible scores and potentially receive, what Online Career Advancement calls, an Honors GED. Several states award GED test takers who attain a high score average with a diploma that has a gold seal indicating an honors GED diploma.
