Online Drone Enthusiast Community, Drone Overdose, Officially Launches Website
Vancouver, Canada, February 22, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Today marks the official launch of DroneOverdose.com, an exciting and innovative new online community website that brings together drone enthusiasts and industry professionals to discuss drone-related topics across diverse areas of interest.
In 2015, the US government expected as many as 1 million drones to be sold in the US alone by the end of the year. This year, the number is projected to be even higher as drone use continues to soar in popularity.
Regulatory agencies such as Transport Canada and the FAA have been struggling to keep up with the rapid changes in the drone industry and exploding adoption of drones across other industries.
In the US alone, the number of drone registrations has already surpassed the number of airplanes registrations, according to the FAA.
As the ubiquity of drones continues to increase, concerns over safety and privacy have contributed to negative drone-related press.
Drone Overdose hopes to dispel fears around drone use by providing resources for educating new users and highlighting positive uses for drones.
Drone Overdose was founded by software industry veteran and drone enthusiast Jonathan Lim.
“The ever-increasing number of new drone purchases is giving rise to a lot of beginners who need to be educated about regulations and best practices. To me, this underscores the need for an easily accessible place where they can connect with others who are beginning or more experienced, and learn from each other”, he explains.
The site caters to a broad range of drone-related topics including aerial photography & videography, FPV Racing, insurance, security, surveying & inspection, emergency response, agriculture, wildlife management, real estate, and humanitarian aid.
“At the same time, we don't take ourselves too seriously, and want the site to act as a relaxed public watering hole where people can have a few laughs, too”, says Lim.
Signing up for an account on the site is completely free, and registered members can:
- Participate in forum discussions and start new topics
- Create their own blog on the site
- Show off their drones in the showcase section
- Vote in polls
- Contact other registered members directly
- Keep track of their favorite blog entries, discussions and showcase items in their own favorites list
In addition, registered organizations are automatically listed and searchable in the site’s organizations directory as soon as they complete their profile description.
According to Lim, “Getting listed on the site and starting a blog is a fantastic way to draw attention to an organization or cause.”
Drone Overdose strives to be a global community of helpful peers who are enthusiastic about sharing ideas and opportunities to foster meaningful conversation.
