Online Tee Time Booking Resource Play Golf BC Introduces $1000 Scholarship for Canadian Students
Online, June 13, 2013 (Newswire.com) - In an effort to support students who are committed to higher education in Canada, acclaimed online golf course booking resource Play Golf BC is offering a $1000 scholarship award. The financial assistance will be awarded to a student entering a Canadian college or university in the fall who exemplifies academic excellence and an understanding of the core values of golf.
Jeff Sveen, owner of Play Golf BC, attributes his own education to his success, and understands how the power of academic opportunity can contribute to the success of Canada's future. He believes a financial award can help provide a boost to a student that has a variety of expenses associated with post-secondary education in addition to tuition, such as course materials and supplies. For many students, accommodation, transportation and food expenses need to be factored in to their budget.
As part of the application process, students must write a brief essay that explores how some of the core values of golf have affected their everyday life (in reference to The First Tee's 9 Core Values). Instead of submitting a hard copy of the writing, applicants are required to post it online on a website, blog or forum. Through this process, the Play Golf BC team can select a recipient based on his or her writing skills, as well as on his or her ability to reflect on the influence of golf values in life.
Canadian students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited university this fall or next spring can visit Play Golf BC's scholarship page to learn more details, as well as download the application.
