Recently home from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, Army veteran Brad attempts to resurrect a civilian life as a truck driver while spending the weekends with his children. The wars have cost him his marriage. After settling in to his new lucrative job with a local trucking firm in the great state of North Carolina, Brad reunites with his high school friend, Mickey, a damn Yankee, who has been to prison for manslaughter. Mickey is a former biker gang member. Brad is also friends with Gabriel, a first born Cuban American, who works for the Secret Service. Gabriel served with Brad during one of his tours in Afghanistan. Now disgraced due to involvement with a prostitution scandal, Gabriel decides to help Brad decipher a mystery that he has unwittingly stumbled into.

Brad's boss has possession of a mind control drug. This soulless villain uses the drug on victims so that he can make them mindlessly follow his orders. This evil boss, Lambrett, is the bookie for an illicit international human chess tournament. In these human chess games, people are used as pieces in a chess game and are routinely killed as international gamblers watch, video and place wagers on the macabre chess games. Mickey rescues Brad after he survives one of the games. The mystery of the mind control drug and the international human chess game unfolds further. Inadvertently, a human ultra rabies virus is released by a sadist cartel. A side effect of exposure to this ultra virus is zombification. The only things left to save humankind are a Cuban immigrant's son, two rednecks and lots of guns.
