Oops! Excuse Me... Just Busy Learning My ABC's!

Bright, engaging flash cards depicting scenarios such as a 'Fox' delighting in a well aimed 'Fart' or a mischievous 'Dinosaur' cliffdropping 'DooDoo' above a very startled looking caveman.

Boys will be boys. Which usually means poops and farts take precedent over well, pretty much anything else. Alpha Cards, flash cards created by Susan Levy,President of He's All Boy Inc., use the humor and subject matter most appealing to young boys to capture their attention, channel it into early core skills and willingly establish a pattern of what will hopefully become a thriving, lifelong joy for learning. Levy, a Denver mom and former elementary school teacher, literacy coach and education consultant, made the decision to embrace the enemy rather than fight it the enemy being her son's lack of interest in 'A' is for 'Apples' and all the other words most commonly used to illustrate letters. "If you are having difficulty helping a particular child learn, you need to figure out what works for them, what grabs their attention and will help them remember," Levy explains. "My cards do that for a lot of kids. When I was in the classroom teaching children to read, I had to figure out what made each individual child tick. I had to figure out what they were interested in and then find reading materials that fit." The result? Bright, engaging flash cards depicting scenarios such as a 'Fox' delighting in a well aimed 'Fart' or a mischievous 'Dinosaur' cliff dropping 'DooDoo' above a very startled looking caveman. The cards are ideal for 3-5 year old boys (make no mistake, girls love them too!) and entertaining to folks of all walks and ages.

Susan's professional background and familiarity with student centered coaching certainly made the challenge of engaging her son a natural one to address, but she credits the perfect storm of those around her for the momentum that turned this experience into products that could be shared with others. Her husband's graphic design and entrepreneurial background, her older daughter's enthusiasm for brainstorming words that made her younger brother laugh, her son's sealing stamp of approval on the hilarity factor of each card and their sense of fun as a family as they problem solved were the driving forces that resulted in the creation of these learning tools.

A February trip to the International Toy Fair in New York established there were no other products like hers on the market, and after receiving lots of positive feedback (and chuckles) from friends and teachers who tried samples in their classrooms, Levy used Kickstarter to raise the initial funds toward production costs. He's All Boy received more than six and a half times the target goal, alleviating any question about her products having a hungry audience. In addition to He's All Boy flash cards, Levy's website currently offers a matching game, placemat, and inevitably, more games and tools to come. He's All Boy Inc. products are currently available at select specialty toy and gift stores across the country and can be purchased directly
