OpenSearchServer chooses to provide all the functions of its search engine as simple APIs, accessible in SaaS mode.

APIs will be gradually be posted online on the search engine software editor's website: www.open-search-server.com, and available for free (up to 100 queries per day and per user).

OpenSearchServer hopes to get the attention of developers and integrators from all around the world with its innovative APIs service as yet unseen on the search market.

At the same time, APIs will provide easier access to the self-titled search engine.

The first API was launched on 20 June 2013:
• SCREENSHOT API makes a screenshot capture of a Web page.
You define the width and the height of the window of your Internet Browser and choose to capture only the visible part of the page or the full content. It is also possible to request the browser to wait for few seconds before doing the capture to be sure that all components of the page are loaded. You will get a PNG image which can still be reduced (to generate a thumbnail).

The next APIs will be launched in the summer:
• OCR API applies an OCR analysis over an image or a PDF document. You upload a document (image of PDF) and you get the recognized words and characters. You can provide the language of the document to obtain a better result. The returned text can be given using HOCR format which includes for each word the coordinates of the box in the original document.

• CRAWLER API extracts the HTML content of a Web page by given its URL. The crawl process is run by a distributed platform which stores the content of the page in a cache during 24 hours.

• PDF VIEWER API is an online PDF viewer, easy to integrate in a Web page. It embeds a search module which is able to highlight the searched keywords. Used with HOCR information (provided by the OCR API) it is possible to highlight keywords on dematerialized documents.

OpenSearchServer aims to make available all the features of its search engine.

The roadmap anticipates some twenty APIs to be launched by the end of 2013:
