Jacquie Lee, Singer
Seventeen-year-old vocal powerhouse Jacquie Lee steadfastly honed her songwriting and performances on Jersey's local scene before striking a chord with America on the top-rated NBC show The Voice. Under the mentorship of pop superstar Christina Aguilera, Jacquie made an impressive showing as first runner up, signaling this young artist's amazing talent. Jacquie's debut single "Broken Ones" (PRESS HERE to listen) has over four million streams on Spotify and shot to the Top 20 on iTunes Pop Chart. PRESS HERE to hear her recent performance of the song on The Voice. Jacquie signed to Atlantic Records in joint partnership with 300 Entertainment. Jacquie is currently touring the country as part of the 31-date Voice Live Tour.
"We're absolutely thrilled that Jacquie is donating her time, talent and energy to help her fellow New Jerseyans," said OPC Founder Lt. Col. Jim Sfayer, USMC Ret. "We're hoping this event raises awareness that the rebuilding effort is far from over, as well as the much needed funds to make it a reality."
Prior to The Voice, Jacquie was an aspiring singer/songwriter and performed with Rockit, a performance program run out of the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ. Even then, charitable events were close to her heart. Jacquie did not hesitate when asked to join Operation Provide Comfort in raising money to help the residents of Union Beach as they continue rebuilding their homes and their lives.
"Being in a position to help a community in my home state is a privilege for me," said Ms. Lee. "Knowing I can share my talent to help others and raise awareness is one of the incredible benefits of participating in The Voice show and summer tour."
Union Beach, NJ is a small borough of mostly small, single-family homes (which are the owners' primary residences). It is on the Raritan Bay, nestled between Keyport and Keansburg. Union Beach sustained devastating damage from Super Storm Sandy. Nearly 200 homes needed to be demolished, another 500 took on 5' of water, and another 1,000 had up to 3' of water damage. Police, Fire, Emergency Services, and the school all sustained significant damage to buildings and equipment. Sadly, the task of rebuilding is not close to accomplished.
OPC currently welcomes event sponsors and donations for gift baskets to be auctioned prior to the event. Interested parties may contact Diana Piotrowski, OPC administrator at 732-946-3474 or [email protected].
