Organically Grown Produce Is Better for Environment, Researchers Say

New study suggests organically grown produce is beneficial for the environment.

Researchers from Lund University in Sweden recently released results from a study that suggests organically grown produce is beneficial for the environment.

The researchers looked at the rate of pollination of strawberry plants between organic and conventional farming methods. They found that 45% of the organic strawberry flowers were fully pollinated while only 17% of the conventionally farmed flowers were fully pollinated.

There were no pesticides or a non-organic fertilizer used on the organic strawberries, and this was somehow obviously noticeable to the bees responsible for pollination.

"The results show that the pollination service is benefited by organic cultivation methods, which is an important factor in the development of sustainable agriculture," says Georg Andersson, a doctoral student in environmental science at Lund University.

"Bees and effective pollination are critical to sustainable agriculture and our food supply," say boomer generation health experts Dian Griesel, Ph.D., and Tom Griesel, authors of the new books TurboCharged: Accelerate Your Fat Burning Metabolism, Get Lean Fast and Leave Diet and Exercise Rules in the Dust (April 2011, BSH) and [url:http://turbocharged.us.com/store/turbocharged/]The TurboCharged Mind (January 2012, BSH). "In recent years, scientists have noted a decrease in pollinating bee populations," adds Tom. "Without bees to pollinate plants, scientists agree we would all die of starvation rather quickly. Could conventional farming with its pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified seeds, plants and weed killers be responsible? Once again, Mother Nature will give us answers and guidance if we will only pay attention. We should be taking copious notes because our survival here on Planet Earth depends on making the correct choices."
