As the state’s largest non-profit provider of children’s behavioral health, educational and social services, Mississippi Children’s Home Services (MCHS) will discuss key legislation that affects the 131,000 children in Mississippi with mental health disorders at their annual Day at the Capitol.  Tomorrow, February 4, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on the first floor rotunda of the Mississippi State Capitol, MCHS will host an opportunity to discuss the many issues facing Mississippi’s children with elected state officials.

“Mississippi stands at a critical juncture for children.  Today, there are over 5,000 Mississippi children in child welfare custody. Mississippi ranks 49th in the United States in funding per child.  It is critical that we make funding children’s services a priority,” said John Damon, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of MCHS.  “The issues facing our children are not a state department issue, they are a state of Mississippi issue. Together, we all can co-construct a bright future for Mississippi’s children.”
