An Orientation Programme was held at PTU Nalanda School of TQM &Entrpreneurship (PSTE) for working Diploma holders joining the 17th Batch of part-time B.Tech-Industrial Engineering & Management, with a specialization in Total Quality Management (TQM).

Welcoming the new joinees, Dean Academics of the School, Brig. Surinder Singh emphasized that education and learning should be a holistic concept and it should not focus solely on books and studies. “Take every opportunity that comes your way; let this journey be a fulfilling experience for you,” he said.

PTU Nalanda School of TQM & Entrepreneurship is the first School of Excellence and a constituent unit of Punjab Technical University which started in 2004. It offers B.Tech. in Industrial Engineering and Management (with specialization in TQM) for working diploma holders and Executive MBA for working graduates. It also conducts several short-term executive development and certification programmes for corporate. The School has also instituted the North-West QualTech Awards for recognizing organizations that have achieved extraordinary results in Quality Improvement.

The School’s “Journey so far”, an audio-video presentation was shown, showcasing the School’s initiatives and programmes since the time of its inception. In his address, the School’s CEO Mr. Manish Trehan complimented the learners for striking out on a new path and promised them a challenging and professionally rewarding experience. He commented“This journey of transformation, will give youample opportunities to experience the best of faculty and pedagogies because we believe that you are not just our students but our world.”

Present at the event were Padma ShriChandra Mohan, Chairman, Governing Council, PSTE as the Chief Guest; and Guest of Honour Mr. R P Sehgal, Member, Governing Council, PSTE. Mr. Chandra Mohan in his address gave out his life time experience in the field of quality improvement and explained how he transformed Punjab Tractors Ltd. from Zero to a Blue Chip Company. Mr. Sehgal stressed on the need for young engineers to develop the habit of making zero defect products by using the tools & techniques of TQM.

A few senior students of the School also shared their own unique experience on their transition into college life and encouraged new students to “enjoy college life to the fullest, study smart and work hard.”

The programme provided a platform to the new joinees to get a feel and knowledge of theirchosen course. The learners were also introduced to the Faculty and the Academic support staff of the School. At the end of the day, it was evident that the School had left a good impression on the new learners, especially those students who are joining studies once again after a long gap.
