Orlando Magic Joins Frank Gay Services Surprising One Local Family in Need With New HVAC System
ORLANDO, Fla., May 5, 2023 (Newswire.com) - In celebration of the Orlando Magic's partnership with Frank Gay Services, the two teamed up to surprise one local family with a new HVAC system. The unsuspecting family was surprised when STUFF the Magic Mascot, Magic Community Ambassadors Nick Anderson and Bo Outlaw, and members of the Magic's 321 Hype team knocked on their door to let them know they had been selected to receive the new system [b-roll link]. The family was also invited to attend a Magic game at the end of the season.
"The Magic are thrilled to welcome Frank Gay to the partnership family and no better way to do that than through a community service project," said Magic Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships J.T. McWalters. "As two community-minded, Central Florida-born organizations, it creates the perfect fit. We look forward to joining forces and continuing to connect with our community in unique ways while growing our brands together."
The Magic and Frank Gay Services announced a multiyear partnership earlier this year. With a focus on the community, the Magic and Frank Gay Services developed a free throw promotion for an opportunity to assist those in need. For each free throw made during the Magic's home games, $10 is donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. Through that program, Frank Gay Services presented a check for $8,130 (813 total free throws made this season) to the organization. The Wounded Warrior Project's vision is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in the nation's history through programs and services.
"Frank Gay Services has a proud 47-year history of serving the greater Central Florida community," said Frank Gay Services Market President John Colloca. "At Frank Gay Services, we are thrilled to collaborate with local brands that share our vision of building strong connections within our neighborhoods. That's why we are excited to partner with the Orlando Magic to further our shared mission of enriching the lives of local residents. In joining forces, we are eager to continue making a positive impact in our community and serving others."
The family selected for the new HVAC system was the Bass family. Head of the family Janice Bass was born and raised in the Orlando area. After spending more than 15 years working as a medical assistant while raising two daughters, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Despite the diagnosis, she continued to work to provide for her family and help others in need. As the disease began to progress, keeping up with the maintenance and repairs on her home became impossible and she was in desperate need of a new HVAC unit. The Magic and Frank Gay Services heard about her story and hardship through Rebuilding Together Central Florida and decided what better way to celebrate the partnership than by helping out a fellow resident in a time of need.
