Orthodontic Practice Awards $6,000 in Scholarships

New Orleans, LA, June 25, 2015 (Newswire.com) - A Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas based orthodontic practice recently awarded six students with a $500 educational scholarship.  Students were chosen based on their essay submissions sent to their local practice. This year’s recipients include:

·         Matthew Thiaville of St. Rosalie School in Harvey, LA

·         Carsyn Canady of Our Lady of Lourdes in Slidell, LA

·         Lizabeth Castaneda of Larose – Cut Off Middle School in Cut Off, LA

·         Thienqui Lam of Hancock Middle School in Kiln, MS

·         Jeffrey Cavaliere of PRC Middle School in Carriere, MS

·         Morgan Boudreaux of Thompson of Cypress High School in Cypress, TX

The topic for the essay contest was “Creating Smiles in Your Community” and was open to 7th and 8th graders from the areas where the practice is located. With over 600 submissions, the six recipients were chosen on an unbiased platform by a third party. Not only did each recipient receive $500 to be used for educational purposes, but each of their schools received a $500 donation as well.

This is not the first round of scholarships awarded to local students by DN Orthodontics. In May 2014, three students were recipients of the award based on their essays about “Building Confidence in Today’s Youth.”

DN Orthodontics believes granting students with this scholarship assists in more than just education expenses. They feel this accomplishment will help confirm student’s self-confidence and encourage them to guide and give back to others in their community.
