Ostrofe Financial Consultants, Inc. To Host Grass Valley financial Literacy Events For Students, Residents

Community public service events to feature well-known financial speakers, including Vince Shorb, president of National Financial Educator's Council and founder of Money XLive.

(GRASS VALLEY, Calif.) - Allen Ostrofe, president of Grass Valley-based Ostrofe Financial Consultants, Inc. and former professor of financial planning and long-term investing, is a firm believer in the premise that the earlier young people learn solid financial lessons the better their financial journeys will be.

On Oct. 8, Ostrofe will welcome Vince Shorb, president of The National Financial Educator's Council and founder of Money XLive, to Bear River and Nevada Union High Schools to address students about starting out on the right financial foot.

"High school students are not taught practical financial education as part of their curriculum," Shorb said. "Most will enter the real world completely unprepared for the financial challenges that await them. Our financial literacy events are designed to make a lasting difference in the lives of our participants."

Skyrocketing personal debt and resulting lifestyle burdens are directly related to personal financial knowledge. According to a Jump$tart Coalitions 2008 survey, twelfth graders answered only 48.3 percent of basic financial questions correctly, a decline from 52.4 percent in 2006. This statistic is especially worrisome considering the Government Accountability Report reports one-third of all workers retiring in 2050 will not have 401(k) based accounts.

Ostrofe, whose professional team has provided financial planning advisory services to individuals and businesses for more than 26 years, has long been committed to educating people about finance. A regular columnist in Grass Valley area newspapers, he frequently shares insights about a variety of financial topics including estate planning, tax mitigation and good financial parenting skills.

In addition to hosting high school assemblies, Ostrofe will also host an open-to-the-public financial literacy event beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the Miners Foundry in Nevada City. The evening presentation will feature Vince Shorb and Fritz Meyer, an economic and markets analyst and frequent guest on CNBC and Fox Business News. There is no cost to attend however donations are encouraged to help fund future school financial literacy events.

Along with Ostrofe Financial Consultants, Inc., the financial literacy events are being sponsored by radio stations, KNCO and Star 94.1, and newspapers, the Union and the Wildwood Independent.

To RSVP to the evening presentation, call Patty Lum at Ostrofe Financial Consultants, Inc., (530) 273-4425, by October 5th.
